Sun shines down on beautiful wedding of Sarah and Ciaran

A romantic proposal outside the historic Edinburgh Castle transformed into a beautiful summer wedding day where the sun beamed down on Sarah Eccles and Ciaran Marlow.

The pair were wed at St Lawrence’s Church, Fintona in an elegant, traditional wedding performed by Fr Jim Moore on June 8, 2018.

Their wedding reception took place at the Slieve Russell Hotel, Cavan – a venue chosen by the pair due to its beautiful gardens amidst scenic surroundings.  Sarah, who is owner of Studio 8 Interior Design, also said that its newly decorated function room was simply perfect for the style of wedding that she wanted.

The Omagh woman was living in Brisbane, Australia in March 2012 when she first met Ciaran, director of CM Construction from Fintona. However they didn’t go on their first date until June 2014.  “I always liked that Ciaran was hard-working and passionate,” Sarah described. “We keep each other smiling.”

Together for two-and-a half years, it was during a special holiday in Edinburgh in December 2016, that Ciaran got down on one knee with the city’s famous castle as a gorgeous back-drop. “Ciaran did very well with his proposal – I was an emotional wreck,” Sarah said.

“Ciaran knew to buy me a dress ring… I may have hinted once or twice! “Then we had an amazing day ring shopping and drinking lots of champagne. “When it came to choosing my engagement ring, I went for a white gold diamond band, which was very similar to the dress ring that he had picked.”

At the dawn of 2017, the pair got stuck in to their wedding planning. “We wanted an elegant and classy day, with just the right balance of traditional and modern elements,” Sarah recalled.

Sarah also said that she just loved shopping for her wedding dress. Initially she went to two dress shops alongside her family and friends and while she wasn’t able to find ‘the one’, she used that time to figure out exactly what it was that she wanted.

“However, when I called into Regina at Belle Mariee Bridal, Omagh I fell in love with the first dress she showed me,” Sarah said. “I brought my mum and bridesmaids in a few days later and that was it.” The dress was simple, but beautifully feminine. It featured delicate ivory satin, a beaded belt, a fitted mermaid skirt and detachable train. “I loved it,” Sarah recounted. “I had two dress styles on the day – a big dress for the ceremony and photos, and then my dancing dress in the evening.”

On the morning of her wedding, Sarah described feeling a little bit emotional – but mostly just excited that the day had finally arrived. “We were so lucky with the weather,” Sarah said. “It was sunshine all the way, which was lovely to see.”

Travelling to the chapel with her dad, Philip in a black Chrysler, Sarah said that she enjoyed a very relaxed service. “Fr Moore made the whole experience very enjoyable,” Sarah said. “The music was beautiful throughout, and a few of the readings made me emotional.”

She added, “Later on in the day, we enjoyed a beautiful four-tiered cake made by my very talented aunt, which was decorated with fresh flowers. “We booked The Nooks for our wedding band, and though we hadn’t heard them before the wedding they were amazing and kept the dance floor going all night… I think we made it to bed around 5am!

“I loved every second of the day and wouldn’t change a thing,” the 31- year-old concluded. “I wish I could do it all over again!”
