Kelly and Barry enjoy wonderful winter wedding in Omagh
A proposal on a Christmas Day where it snowed from the heavens, transformed into a magical winter wedding for Kelly Devlin and Barry O’Neill. The Omagh pair were wed by Father Christopher McDermott at St Mary’s, Drumragh on December 29, 2018, during a service filled with beautiful music and lovely readings.
Their bridal party included maid of honour, Sharlene McPhillips; bridesmaids, Roisin Devlin and Donna- Marie McLaughlin; flower girl, Evie Clarke; junior bridesmaid, Ella-Rose Devlin; best man, Damian Farrell; groomsmen, Cathal Mullan and Niall McDermott and page boy, Ryan McPhillips.
The new Mr and Mrs O’Neill enjoyed their wedding reception at Corick House Hotel & Spa in Clogher chosen due to its beautiful setting, elegant function room and close-to home location.
Kelly, a classroom assistant, first met Barry, an office worker, during a night out in Omagh in 2005. Together for almost five years, it was on December 25, 2009 that Barry surprised Kelly with a unique proposal.
In the heavy snow that had fallen in the garden, the Omagh man carefully wrote the words ‘Will You Marry Me?’ Reflecting upon the moment, Kelly said, “I felt a mixture of excitement and happiness.” Kelly’s engagement ring, which she ‘loved’, featured a white gold band and a sparkling diamond.
The newlyweds-to-be chose to travel to South East Asia and Australia, and they also bought a house before planning for their big day.
However when the time did come to shop for her perfect wedding dress, Kelly enjoyed a ‘fantastic’ experience. “I always wanted a tea-length wedding dress, so I went to Marie Me Bridal in Randalstown as they specialise in tea-length gowns,” Kelly explained. With plenty to choose from, the Omagh woman picked out a dress designed by ‘House of Mooshki’ which featured a gorgeous white lace bodice, and three-quarter length sleeves to match its dainty style.
On the day of the winter wedding, both Kelly and Barry felt nervous, yet excited and happily, the weather was on their side too. “It was mild, dry and calm,” Kelly recalled.
The groom made his way to the chapel in a classic Volkswagen Camper Van, while the beautiful bride was whisked away to the chapel in a Volkswagen Beetle. ‘Our service was beautiful,” Kelly said. “The music and readings were lovely. Father McDermott put us completely at ease.”
Harpist Bronagh Muldoon entertained guests upon arrival to Corick House, and later the newlyweds enjoyed a three-tier cake before dancing the night away to the fabulous wedding band and DJ, The Rockits. The new Mr and Mrs O’Neill stayed up dancing to 4.30am and enjoyed a day that they will never forget.
